Spider-Man: Marvel CCO Talks Next Peter Parker; Mateus Ward Auditions

Young Peter Parker Marvel Comics Spider Man: Marvel CCO Talks Next Peter Parker; Mateus Ward Auditions

If there was any doubt about what direction Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are going to take with the next live-action incarnation of Spider-Man, you can put it to rest. The next time moviegoers sees the web-slinger on the big screen, he’ll be a young, teenage Peter Parker. Sorry Miles Morales fans, your time will eventually come.

While some Marvel Comics readers, including some of our own readers and staff, are still waiting to see an older, veteran superhero version of Spider-Man onscreen (before someone reboots again) Marvel and Sony need to plan long-term. And by long-term, we mean they might be signing an actor to the longest ever superhero movie contract (think Harry Potter). ...

'Suicide Squad': Viola Davis Calls Amanda Waller a 'Brutal Badass'

Suicide Squad Movie Amanda Waller Actress1 Suicide Squad: Viola Davis Calls Amanda Waller a Brutal Badass

There may once have been doubts (and plenty still remain) that Warner Bros. and DC Comics were fools to jump-start a shared movie universe; not only with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, but with Suicide Squad as well. As one film introduces a few new movie superheroes, writer/director David Ayer will be introducing several villains expected to be sticking around for the long haul.

Though she may not carry the mainstream clout as The Joker (Jared Leto) or Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), it’s the role played by Amanda Waller – the government/military figure overseeing the Squad – that could wind up reaching into other films in the DC Movie Universe. And by ...

'Mr. Holmes' International Trailer: The Man Beyond the Myth

With his sharp mind, quick wit and ability to solve even the most difficult of cases, the character of Sherlock Holmes has captivated audiences for over a hundred years. This past decade alone has seen a number of different versions of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective in the movies and on TV. Jonny Lee Miller is currently starring in CBS’ Elementary, Benedict Cumberbatch will soon return to BBC’s Sherlock and a third Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey, Jr. is still in development.

But this summer’s Mr. Holmes may feature the most intriguing version of the character yet. Based on the 2005 novel "A Slight Trick of the Mind" by Mitch Cullin, the film, written by Jeffrey Hatcher (The Dutchess) and directed by Bill Condon, follows a 93-year-old Holmes (played by Ian McKellen) as he attempts to solve the one case he could never figure out. Through his failing memories of the ...

'Aquaman': Jason Momoa Says He 'Trusts' Zack Snyder's Plans For The Hero

Aquaman Movie Comic Costumes Sea King Aquaman: Jason Momoa Says He Trusts Zack Snyders Plans For The Hero

Casting for a comic book movie is never a simple task, but Batman V Superman director Zack Snyder showed that no matter how controversial a casting choice may be, fans and mass audiences will forgive quite a bit if the result is simply too cool to ignore. Jason Momoa wasn’t anyone’s top choice for the role of Aquaman in the DC Movie Universe, but the first image of the actor in costume as the Atlantean King shifted the discussion from confusion to curiosity.

Now the questions surround the hero’s involvement, with hints that Aquaman could make his debut in Dawn of Justice ahead of a Justice League team-up or solo ...

'Avengers 3′ & '4′: Anthony & Joe Russo Close Deal With Marvel To Direct

Avengers Infinity War Logo Official Avengers 3 & 4: Anthony & Joe Russo Close Deal With Marvel To Direct

TV veterans and brothers Anthony and Joe Russo made their claim to fame helping create, run, write and direct Arrested Development and Community, hit comedies with loyal niche followings. Their work on those shows, most notably Community “where no genre goes untouched” caught the attention of Marvel Studios president of production and super producer Kevin Feige and in turn landed them their big budget feature debut with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The modern-set sequel to The First Avenger served as a bridge film between The Avengers and this summer’s upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron, and helped reshape the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Debuting in theaters outside of the traditional summer blockbuster season where Marvel usually positions ...

'Orphan Black' Season 3 Trailer: This Is War

BBC America’s Orphan Black has benefited from word of mouth more than most shows on TV right now. It’s managed to gain a large and dedicated fan following throughout its first two seasons as a result – though, the show has (unfortunately) never quite been able to capture the kind of ratings many would believe it deserves.

The series is written and shot well; is an actually intriguing addition to the sci-fi genre; and features an amazing Golden Globe-nominated performance(s) from its star Tatiana Maslany. Oprhan Black is set to premiere its third season in a few weeks both on BBC America and AMC (watch the latest trailer for the new season, above) – with the hope being that the show will soon enjoy the kind of ratings boost it has earned.

Nintendo CEO Suggests 'Legend of Zelda' Netflix Series Might Not Be Happening

legend zelda netflix tv series not happening Nintendo CEO Suggests Legend of Zelda Netflix Series Might Not Be Happening

Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda is one video game property that’s long been regarded by its fans as ripe material for either a live-action film and/or TV adaptation, given its inherent cinematic qualities. There was a short-lived (and frequently parodied) Legend of Zelda animated series released in the late 1980s, but earlier this year a fresh report emerged claiming Netflix is working on a new Zelda series - one that would bring the world of Hyrule to life on the small screen as a family-friendly, lavishing live-action fantasy show.

… But, it seems that might not be the case after all. This new update on a prospective Legend of Zelda Netflix series comes from no less an authority than Nintendo ...

'Game of Thrones' Producer Admits Show Will Likely Spoil Unpublished Books

Jon Snow Game of Thrones Game of Thrones Producer Admits Show Will Likely Spoil Unpublished Books

Now that the internet is such an integral part of most people’s everyday life, avoiding spoilers for TV shows is becoming ever more difficult. When official social media accounts for shows are spoiling major plot events before episodes have even aired in all timezones, a strict policy of eschewing Facebook and Twitter entirely until caught up on all the latest TV episodes may be the only way to remain truly safe.

Fans of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series may soon face an even more difficult choice as the TV adaptation, Game of Thrones, rapidly catches up to the books. Martin has already informed the show’s producers of ...

Jennifer Lawrence Done With 'X-Men' After 'Apocalypse'

It would be fair to say that Jennifer Lawrence and the X-Men movies have had a mutually beneficial relationship. The Oscar-winning actress jumped into the 2011 soft reboot of the franchise, X-Men: First Class, at a time when she was just on the cusp of exploding into stardom. When the sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past hit theaters in 2014, a much-more-famous Jennifer Lawrence was a central piece of the film’s marketing and PR campaign.

As X-Men: Apocalypse enters production, many have been questioning Lawrence’s future with the franchise, and as you can see for yourself in the video above, it seems that question has been definitively answered by the actress herself.

For anyone who has been following the new X-Men movie universe with interest, this shouldn’t be all that surprising for a list of reasons:

'Rings' Takes Place 13 Years After 'The Ring'; Director Confirms Filming Has Begun

The Ring Naomi Watts1 Rings Takes Place 13 Years After The Ring; Director Confirms Filming Has Begun

Nowadays it’s rare to see VHS tapes cluttering up people’s shelves, except as cutesy nostalgia pieces or relics of a bygone age left to gather dust by obsessive hoarders. It’s one of the things that makes techno-oriented horror films like The Ring very dated. There’s nothing intrinsically wrong with that, of course, but it makes the goal of producing a sequel to The Ring 2 somewhat challenging.

Taking on that challenge is director F. Javier Gutiérrez, who previously directed apocalypse thriller Before the Fall and for quite a long time was attached to the upcoming reboot of The Crow. Gutiérrez’s sequel will be called Rings and was partially scripted by ...

Neill Blomkamp's 'Alien 5′ Was Changed for 'Prometheus 2′ & Already Has a Title

Shared cinematic universes are in style - and currently, 20th Century Fox is working on a couple, including one that does not include Marvel comic book characters. The latter would be a reference to the Alien franchise, which currently has two installments in development: Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5, which will bring back Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley; and Ridley Scott’s Prometheus 2, a sequel to Scott’s Alien quasi-prequel (or, rather, spinoff) that released in 2012.

The Prometheus followup has been in semi-official development for much longer than Blomkamp’s film, but the latter is the one that’s been grabbing headlines of late since Blomkamp’s been out promoting Chappie. Scott, ...

'Suicide Squad' Rumor: Harley Quinn's Backstory, Costumes & Joker Connection

Harely Quinn Hyenas Suicide Squad Movie Suicide Squad Rumor: Harley Quinns Backstory, Costumes & Joker Connection

For those keeping track (or not), DC Comics and Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad will be the third film in the emerging DC movie universe started by Man of Steel and continued next summer in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Directed by David Ayer (Fury), the film will look in on the villainous underworld of the DC Universe, following a group of criminals (some of the most iconic in the DCU), as they are coerced into a black-ops mission by the mysterious Amanda Waller (Viola Davis).

While we know that the movie will feature big stars like Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto playing characters like Deadshot, Harley Quinn and The Joker (respectively), ...

'Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation' Official Trailer: Tom Cruise Defies Gravity

2015 is a tough year for major franchise sequels, purely because there are so many of them that it’s difficult to stand out from the crowd. The summer will kick off with The Avengers: Age of Ultron and continue with George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road, which crawled out from almost three decades of development hell and still looks excellent. The year will continue with Terminator: Genisys and Jurassic World and finish up with the first installment in Disney’s revived Star Wars franchise.

Amidst all of this is Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, a movie in which Tom Cruise does his own stunts – and those stunts are, of course, ridiculous. Not content with climbing up and running down the world’s tallest building in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Cruise strapped himself to the side of ...

This summer’s Terminator: Genisys is bringing Arnold Schwarzenegger back to the Terminator franchise, where he will be surrounded by younger cast members playing characters both new and familiar. Schwarzenegger’s costars here include Jai Courtney (The Divergent Series: Insurgent) as the latest cinematic iteration of the Kyle Reese character, alongside Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as the latest face of iconic sci-fi action hero Sarah Connor.

J.K. Simmons – fresh off his Oscar-winning performance in Whiplash – has what he’s described as a “smaller part” in the Genisys story, though Simmons has kept quiet about his role beyond that. However, in the past, it has been reported that the actor is playing

'The Walking Dead': Sick of Playing Defense

Norman Reedus in The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 15 The Walking Dead: Sick of Playing Defense

[This is a review of The Walking Dead season 5, episode 15. There will be SPOILERS.]

-

At the end of The Walking Dead season 4, Rick and his fellow survivors found themselves the guests of another group who had managed to create for themselves a community of sorts. It was a community based on luring weary, unsuspecting folks looking for sanctuary to their doom, but it was still the start of a small, functioning community. In fact, one of the most surprising things about Terminus was the sense of efficiency and togetherness its cannibalistic residents exuded. And still, by the time the season 5 premiere was over, Rick and the gang had ...
